Wes O'Brien of Lexington, Texas killed a 38-point buck last Saturday on private land in Richardson County, Neb. that has fellow hunters buzzing about a possible state record.

O’Brien, 24, said the buck’s preliminary score on the Boone and Crockett system is 281. According to the Lincoln Journal Star, the official score won’t be available until the antlers have dried over a period of 60 days.

"I don't care if he doesn't get any records. He's amazing to me," O'Brien said.

He made the shot at 100 yards on the private land he was hunting with a friend who knew the landowner. O’Brien only carried a non-resident hunting license, so the big buck was a boon for the “broke white boy who likes to hunt.”

O’Brien said he will consider selling the non-typical set of antlers once they are mounted keeping only the memory and pictures of the buck he nicknamed “Too Easy.”
